It's official; Paul has returned from the land of Ire and we are back to our regularly scheduled programming for the remainder of the summer, meeting Wednesday afternoons from 1-4! Bring your commander's and their armies! I finally picked up a commander deck and have been itching to put it to good use. Paul is also going to be bringing a standalone session RPG to try out. See you there! :-)

So, I finally made it to an official, Wizards of the Coast sanctioned pre-release event this weekend, and I must say, I had a blast! I played in the 10:30 event at Brap's Magic, and went with the Green kit. My first question, as I opened the kit up and saw the top card on my green, weighted pack was: "Does everyone start with a Planeswalker?" Yep, that's right, I pulled a foil Nissa, Vastworld Seer/Sage Animist right out of the gate. The rest of my pull for green really wasn't that great, and in hindsight, I probably should have moved on to Plan B and played White and Blue, but I really wanted to run Nissa, since she is my first Planeswalker EVER. And I somehow managed to get her in hand every single game I played, so in that respect, she didn't let me down. And I was able to get her into play 75% of my games, and in 100% of those, I was able to spark her to her Planeswalker side. All in all, I left on the low end of the ranks, but had a fun time nonetheless!
How'd you guys do? What are your favorite cards and elements in the new set? Did you make it out to any of the pre-release events? Or will you be attending any of the Launch events this weekend? For those of you in Middle School, Brap's Magic is hosting a special, youth event this Saturday at noon (registration opens at 11:30) for ages 6-12. It's a constructed event, so bring your own deck (without proxies) of 60+ cards and have a blast. Full event details and more information can be found HERE. --Harold As Semisonic used to sing, get ready to go out to the places you will be from. Origins is set to be released at the end of the month, and Brap's Magic and Quarterstaff both have some great Pre-Release sealed events going on all weekend, July 11-12, in Burlington to ring in the new set before you can officially even buy it! Find all the details here:
